The Hopeful Quest for Love

I am almost numb to some extent over the concept of love. Family is not close in that way, never experienced a great deal of affection in my life, and when I did from someone once, it completely unnerved me and I wanted more of it, only to chase someone away. Can’t win.

As a Christian, we are told to seek after God for the love we want, but it is not something you feel very easily. You have to give it attention, time and believe that it is there even when you don’t feel it. This is new to me.

I know those who read this can relate. I see more and more in today’s society of people who spend ninety percent of their time on a device and away from others. We have given up hope of finding friends, or loved ones, and just settle for being alone but even God said that it wasn’t good for man to be alone.

Where am I going with this? I don’t think anyone should ever give up on finding it. I am sure it is in the strangest of places. Pets have lots of love to give, and strangers are better at it than people we know.

As far as God is concerned, I read this beautiful statement from an article online:

Love is the reason God created the Universe and everything in it. Creation is not an arbitrary act of a capricious God. God made us with His love. His love drives us and pushes us, and casts away all of our tormenting thoughts and fears.-Donald J. Johnson

Reading quotes from others helps more than the Bible and I don’t know why that is. I hear more advanced Christians saying that they had to learn that if God said it in the Bible, than we are to accept it, embrace it, and know it is true, and it is a work we have to do ourselves, and God meets us halfway there.

I am blown away by author Bonnie Gray. She seems to have the most beautiful thoughts concerning God, and out of all the writers out there, I can’t get enough of her stuff. She said she was in nature one night, and it was as if God imprinted this thought onto her:

I made this world beautiful so you can could find me

Look into the wild things. I have a place for you.-Bonnie Gray, Finding Spiritual Whitespace.

I obviously am a nature freak so this stuck out to me. I extend this to you, to notice the little things along your path to see if God is in any of them. Whatever it will be, will be personal to you. I have been touched by secular songs, and moments that have no explanation other than that God moved through them at that time.

I write this for myself and others, so we can all see that we were created by love, and for love. If we do not get to be with others, than we get to be with God. I don’t know how to feel about that because I am unmarried, and not getting any younger, and do not want an empty life experience of no love. We just have to keep believing and push forward knowing God has written us on the palm of his hand.
